Brighton Megagames
”Players take the roles of influential figures in the power structure of the United States of America as the country faces one of many potentially extinction-causing events…”
Be sure to read up on this one. It seems very interesting and the webpage is extremely well done, with lots of information and interesting texts. Game Makers Malmö might even be looking into getting this game set up ourselves.

”This is the megagame of one of the darkest hours in Dutch history, when the country is being assailed from all sides. The people are beyond reason, the government is beyond hope, and the country is beyond rescue. Can the patricians of the Dutch Republic turn the situation around, or is the freedom that was so hard won destined to be lost again?”
This is a Diplomatic and political game set in 1672. Most players will represent the members of the States of the Seven Provinces. It seems to be extremely popular with players from more than 3 different countries already sign up to play. As of writing, there are a few more spots left, so be sure to check this one out.
Shaun McMillan
”ALLIANCE is a political science simulation created by my high school game design students and I to help young people understand the dynamics of working towards world peace. In the game as many as 60 players role play as world leaders of 20 different nation teams to try and solve multiple geo-political crises, trade, and develop their nations. They learn first hand the importance of diplomacy, the necessity for self-defense, international interdependency, and cooperation.”
Shaun McMillan, who is a game design teacher and an artist has created this wonderful Diplomatic Megagame that teaches the hardships of coming together to create peace. Shaun is a brilliant gamemaker and also right now has a game up on Kickstarter called Great Boy the Game. Check it out.
Rex Brynen – McGill University
This is one of renowned megagame designer Jim Wallmans creations. It’s set in the not to distant future and explores current topics but in a futuristic setting.
Pennine Megagames
”A fantasy megagame for 40-60 players, set in an alternate timeline where Edward VIII didn’t abdicate and yet still married Wallis Simpson. Following the resignation of his government, Oswald Mosely is now prime minister and after a breakdown of discussions and economic unrest the country has fragmented.”
Pennine Megagames is a north England based megagame group established 2015. It’s a diverse group that are aiming on setting up a good selection of megagames. Be sure to be on the lookout for more from them.
Bellingham Megagames & Megagame Society Chicago
”This megagame is inspired by the classic computer game ‘UFO Enemy Unknown’ and the more recent excellent XCOM game. Both games, whilst very absorbing at the tactical level are naturally thin on high level politics and diplomatic action. What I was interested in were some of the bigger issues facing a world under covert (or even overt) attack by an alien menace.”
There are two games of Watch The skies the 27th Feb this year. One is hosted by the Bellingham Megagames group and the other by Megagame Society Chicago both in USA. Watch The Skies is currently the only megagame that Game Makers Malmö has had the honor of setting up our self and so we know it intimately. I highly recommend playing in one of them.
