Home at last and time to reflect on what a great time we had playing Sweden’s first megagame yesterday in Malmo , when GMM put on Watch the Skies. Some great moments which will stay with me for a long time. In particular the broadcast media team were superb , but there were other high points for me. There was the narrow avoidance of a second Korean war (and the sentencing of two CIA agents to 10 years hard labour for trying to overthrow the South Korean government). Then there was China’s invasion of Angola after the UN had failed to stop Angola’s development of nuclear weapons; only one spot on a die roll stopped the Angolans launching! And of course we had Japan’s clever attempt to steal the intact UFO from America and leave their own mostly useless one in exchange. Russian attempts to subvert the world’s media were entertaining, as of course were the continuing attempts by earth’s nations to communicate with the aliens, and vice versa. I would congratulate all the players, thank all the control team, and of course Thomas and his colleagues for the immense amount of work they put in to produce the game. Plans are now afoot to put WTS on again around Easter, and later in the year to run my own Divided Land (Palestine 1947) and hopefully Sengoku (feudal Japan).
Watch this space!
